Thou / Salome - Our Enemy Civilization [split] 12" (Vendetta)

Goddamn do we wish we'd released this one! Another killer release from Vendetta, once again combining two ugly, brutal, slow and heavy bands, this time both from the U.S... Southerners THOU come with thick slugde-core that doesn’t fear occasional hymnical moments and quiet interludes before falling again into an abyss of black, hateful slowliness. Virginia-based SALOME instead serve stripped-down stark sludge-doom and prove that it needs no more than drums, a guitar and a scathing, vitriol-filled inhuman female voice to deliver nothing but pure hatred.

Two bands that simply had to come together on a split release on their urge to explore the depths of heavy sludge/doom. THOU ornament their noisy SABBATH worship with moments of quietness and melancholy that calms down the listener before dragging him down into the dark cellars of the mighty e-minor chord cathedral. SALOME concentrate more on the pure power of the repetitive guitar riff fundamented by earthquake drumming and topped by awesome hateful tormented vocals. Altogether a massive document of pain, despair and hate pressed onto vinyl.
